Every Chandelier Is One of a Kind

Every antler chandelier we build starts with naturally shed antlers. Elk, mule deer, whitetail, moose, and fallow deer drop their antlers each year and grow a new set — no animal is harmed to make a fixture in this collection. We collect and hand-select from that shed material, which means no two chandeliers we build are identical.

That’s the real difference between a genuine antler chandelier and a resin reproduction. Natural antler carries tonal variation, surface texture, and asymmetry that molded pieces can’t reproduce. Ten resin chandeliers off the same mold are ten identical objects. Ten real antler chandeliers are ten different sculptures.

We sort every shipment of antler by species, size, color, and curve before a single piece goes into a build. Only the top grade makes it into a chandelier.

Dante Martin has been building antler lighting for over 20 years. Each chandelier in this collection is assembled by hand, one at a time, in our shop — not manufactured in batches.

Wiring runs concealed inside the antler itself, so no cable is visible along the arms. Drill points are filled and finished to match the surrounding antler. The result reads as a single sculptural object rather than a light fixture with antlers attached to it.

Choosing the Right Size

Scale is where most antler chandelier purchases go wrong, so it’s worth measuring before you fall in love with a photo.

Diameter. A common starting point for a dining room is to add the room’s length and width in feet and use that number in inches as your chandelier diameter — a 12′ × 14′ room suggests roughly a 26″ fixture. Over a dining table specifically, aim for a fixture about half to two-thirds the width of the table.

Hanging height. Over a table, leave about 30–36″ between the tabletop and the bottom of the chandelier. In an open entry or great room, keep the bottom of the fixture at least 7′ above the floor.

Ceiling height. Multi-tier and cascade designs need vertical room to read properly. Under 9′ ceilings, a single-tier fixture almost always looks better than a tiered one.

Weight. Real antler is heavier than reproduction. Larger fixtures should be mounted into a rated ceiling box or blocking, and we recommend professional installation for anything at the top of our size range. We don’t publish fixed weights, because natural antler varies in size and density and no two fixtures come out identical. We can give you an approximate weight before you order, and an exact shipping weight once your chandelier is complete.

Are your antler chandeliers made from real antlers?

Yes. Every chandelier in this collection is built from genuine, naturally shed antler — elk, mule deer, whitetail, moose, and fallow deer. We don’t sell resin or reproduction fixtures.

Are animals harmed to make antler chandeliers?

No. Deer, elk, and moose shed their antlers naturally every year and grow a new set. We build only from that shed material.

How much does a real antler chandelier cost?

Chandeliers in this collection currently range from about $1,200 to just over $9,000, and pendant lights start around $495. Price is driven by size, species, number of antlers, and lighting configuration. Custom pieces are quoted individually.

How long does an antler chandelier take to build?

It depends on size and where your piece sits in the build queue. Production time — the hands-on build itself — runs 1 to 2 weeks for small fixtures, 2 to 3 for medium, 3 to 4 for large, and 4 to 8 for extra-large. Total lead time from order to shipment is typically 10 to 12 weeks for smaller standard pieces and 12 to 16 weeks for custom builds. We’ll give you a firm date when you order.

Can a real antler chandelier work in a modern home?

Yes. Natural antler is a sculptural, organic material, and it often reads better against contemporary architecture than against heavy traditional decor. Single-tier and cascade designs in particular suit modern rooms.

What bulbs do your chandeliers use, and are they dimmable?

Our fixtures use E12 candelabra sockets rated to a maximum of 40 watts actual draw per socket. They are LED compatible and dimmable, and every chandelier is UL certified.

That 40-watt limit refers to actual power draw, not the incandescent-equivalent figure printed on the box. LED candelabra bulbs draw roughly 4 to 6 watts while producing the light of a 40- to 60-watt incandescent, so a bulb marked “60W equivalent” is well within the limit and runs cooler than the incandescent it replaces.

Bulbs we use and recommend: the Keystone KT-LED4.5FCA11-E12-927-C, a 4.5W dimmable CA11 filament bulb in warm white at 2700K, and the Euri Lighting VB10-3000cec, a 5.5W dimmable B10 clear-glass filament bulb at 3000K with a 90+ CRI. Both are E12 and both are UL listed. The 2700K reads warmer and more traditional; the 3000K is slightly crisper and shows the antler’s natural color a little more clearly.

How do I clean an antler chandelier?

Dust periodically with a soft dry cloth or a soft brush, working with the grain of the antler. Skip household cleaners, solvents, and anything abrasive — they’ll strip the finish. No other routine maintenance is needed.
