Why the Big Sky Suits Mountain-Modern Rooms

At 40″-50″ in diameter and 36″ tall on average, the Big Sky fits comfortably over a dining table in the 12-15 foot range or as a statement piece in a mid-size great room (see our size guide for the exact formula for your space). It comes standard with eight lights and can be upgraded to twelve for brighter rooms, and – like every fixture we build – is UL certified under File E238337 for both the US and Canada.

How the Big Sky Is Handcrafted

Every Big Sky chandelier begins with hand-selected elk and mule deer antler, chosen individually for size, curve, and color balance before Dante builds each fixture by hand in our workshop. Pairing two antler types in one fixture takes more time at the build stage — the elk antlers form the wider outer tier while the mule deer antlers fill in the center for a fuller silhouette.

That combination is part of why the Big Sky reads as a more sculptural, one-of-a-kind piece than a single-species chandelier. Each fixture is finished in either its natural warm-brown antler tone or a bleached white finish, then sealed to resist yellowing and dust buildup so it keeps its character for years of everyday use.

Because the Big Sky spans 40″-50″ in diameter, plan for at least 24″-30″ of clearance from walls, beams, or stairways on every side, and hang it 30″-36″ above a dining table for comfortable sightlines and headroom. In a taller great room or vaulted dining space, add roughly 3 inches of chain for every foot of ceiling height above 8 feet so the fixture reads at the right scale from below.

To keep the antler finish looking its best over time, dust it occasionally with a soft, dry cloth and avoid placing it where it will take direct steam or high humidity, such as directly above a hot tub or open shower. With minimal care, a real antler chandelier like the Big Sky will hold its finish, wiring, and structural integrity for decades, making it a genuine heirloom piece rather than a passing trend.
