Why the Kootenai Fits Smaller Spaces

Where a full chandelier needs a great room or vaulted ceiling, this sconce is sized for hallways, entryways, powder rooms, and bedside walls – anywhere you want real antler character without the scale of a hanging fixture. It mounts directly to a standard wall electrical box, so it installs like any hardwired light rather than hanging from a ceiling.

Each piece ships wired and ready for a dimmable bulb, available in warm 2700K or cool white 3000K, so you can match the light to the room. Like everything we build, it’s UL certified under File E238337 for both the US and Canada.

How the Kootenai Is Handcrafted

Every Kootenai starts with genuine whitetail antler, hand-selected for size and shape before it’s shaped into the arm and mounting base. Nothing is cast or molded to imitate antler – each piece is real, naturally shed or sustainably sourced material, sanded smooth and fitted by hand in the workshop.

The shade is where it gets its character: a custom rawhide shade, hand-stitched along the seam, that softens the bulb’s light into a warm amber glow rather than a bare, harsh light source. Choose a Natural finish for a warm, richly mottled tone, or Bleached White for a lighter look that pairs well with white walls and contemporary lodge interiors.

Because every antler is a little different, the natural color variation in whitetail antler means no two sconces are ever perfectly identical. That’s part of what makes a real antler accent feel handmade rather than mass-produced off a shelf.

Real antler and rawhide are natural materials, so a little care keeps this piece looking its best for years. Dust it occasionally with a soft, dry cloth, and keep it away from direct steam or constant high humidity, such as a shower stall, since sustained moisture can affect the shade over time.
