How Much Do Antler Chandeliers Weigh? Installation of Antler Chandeliers Considerations…
The installation of Antler Chandeliers will most of the time involve standard ceiling boxes which have a maximum weight load rating of 50 lbs. A 36” diameter single tier mule deer chandelier like my design “Shoshone” will weigh approximately 23 pounds and can be safely installed to most ceiling boxes. Your installer can verify the load rating of your ceiling box on site prior to the install. An elk antler chandelier with a diameter of 65 inches and a height of 40-44 inches weighs in the neighborhood of 75 -95 lbs. This design requires a ceiling box rated preferably at 150 lbs. (Many steel ceiling fan boxes are rated at 150 pounds weight load.) Your installer will make the final determination at the time of install. For all our chandeliers we make custom structural ceiling plates to hang your chandelier from. For our heavier elk antler designs that exceed the rated weight of a 150 lb ceiling box, we make special hardware as required for those placements. We try to make it as easy as I can for the installer and provide written instructions.
Does it take longer to install an Antler Chandelier?
The installation of antler chandeliers time factor is the same as for any other light fixture. The extra time considerations are the same for any type of fixture depending on whether the ceiling height would require scaffolding, etc.
Custom Placements
For custom placements where a client needs special
hardware to hang from a beam, etc., we can make nearly anything custom as long as we have pictures and/or measurements. Even the most unique placement is usually no problem. We consider it part of our job. For swag installs, where the chain hanging point needs to be slightly relocated to center over a table, we can provide the hardware to make that install easy and quick.
